Sea Market Festival - Karragarra Island

Celebrating its 22nd year, the Karragarra Sea Market Festival takes place on Sunday 1 October (Queen's Birthday long weekend).

Karragarra Sea Market Festival is held on Karragarra Island, part of the picturesque Southern Moreton Bay Islands. The Festival is situated beside the bay, running along The Esplanade and down to the beach. Travels options below.

Presented by the Karragarra Community Garden, the market has grown into a festival with the expansion of talks, workshops and environmental focus.

There is something for everyone; huge range of market stalls, plant sales, classic car showcase, food and entertainment. Talks and workshops include topics that range from Tiny Homes, Frogs, Bats, Rocket stoves, edible flowers and solar ovens.

Free to attend and all welcome. Karragarra Sea Market Festival takes place on Quandamooka Country, the traditional owners of the land.

Park at the Redland Bay Marine Terminal, Weinam St, Redland Bay. Bay Islands Transit operates a passenger ferry service to the SMBI Islands – 7 days per week – 365 per year. It takes approximately 20 minutes on the passenger fast cat from Redland Bay to Karragarra Island, you can use your Translink card or purchase a paper ticket at the terminal or on the ferry. FREE inter-island services operate, enabling easy access for visitors to explore each of the Bay Islands within the group, you can island hop as frequently as you wish. It is a frequent service, with ferries departing generally every half an hour. All ferry services go to all islands.

Note: There are no ATMs, shops, or medical services available on Karragarra.

Karragarra is the smallest of the sub-tropical Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Karragarra Island is approximately half a kilometre wide and four kilometres long. Your experience starts with a short water taxi ride from Redland Bay. There are parks, sandy beaches, a swimming enclosure, public toilets and barbecue facilities. The island is popular for picnics amongst locals and visitors alike. Karragarra Island has a Rural Fire Station and helicopter landing pad. Shopping centres, medical facilities and small businesses can be found on Macleay Is. and Russell Is., as well as the major shopping centres at Redland Bay and Victoria Point.
