Question 3. How can I get around the islands?

I don’t have a car, how can I get around the islands: A Taxi service is available on Macleay and Russell Islands. Alternatively, a couple of our islands, Karragarra and Lamb are small enough to walk, while taking in the sights and on Macleay and Russell Islands the main shopping precincts, are an easy stroll from the passenger ferry terminal. On Macleay Island, café’s, a pub, the Progress and Community Hall, and a skatepark are all within a short stroll. On Russell Island, cafés, a bottle-o, a public swimming pool, and sports fields are all within a short stroll. Footpaths run most of the length of these two larger islands.
Bikes are a fabulous way to explore further on the islands, BYO bike, they may be parked on the front deck of our passenger ferries, or may be hired from an operator based on Macleay Island.
If this is too energetic, our major clubs have courtesy bus transfers to/from our passenger ferry terminals: Club Macleay has fabulous views west to Coochimudlo Island and north to Peel Island, with Sandpiper Beach, Macleay Island Arts Complex (incl. Gallery), and Tingira Boat Club just a short stroll away.  Bay Islands Golf Club, has an excellent 9 hole golf course and popular airconditioned bar and grill with regular entertainment. Russell Island RSL also has a bistro and entertainment.
